The goal of Joseph’s Sidekicks is to raise a minimum of $1.5 million to help fund research for a cure.
Being in the hospital can be scary, especially for a child. This stress and fear expands throughout the family, parents feel helpless and worried about the future. Siblings are torn between sadness about their sick brother or sister and frustration about the new unpredictable family schedule and loss of normalcy.
Joseph’s Sidekicks Endowment will provide critical support and funding for ressearch for pediatric cancer and blood disorder patients.
Some of the common needs for support include:
- Coping related to diagnosis and treatment
- Medication/treatment adherence
- Pain management
- Mood concerns such as anxiety or depression
- Body image/aesthetic concerns
- Behavioral concerns
- Pill swallowing
- Procedural anxiety/phobia
- School modifications and re-entry
